SDTC announces latest round of clean tech funding

Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) today announced its 18th round of funding for Canadian clean technology demonstration projects. Canadian entrepreneurs and technology developers with new technologies and a compelling business case are encouraged to submit Statements of Interests to the SD Tech Fund™ from September 1 to October 20th, 2010. Sustainable Energy’s Stronghold on Ontario Solar PV Market

Alberta’s Sustainable Energy Technologies has something to be excited about. The company announced that much of the microFIT market in Ontario could possibly be theirs for the taking. Since their SUNERGY inverters are the only known products to be CSA certified for outdoor-rated inverters in its class, by their estimates, 200-MW of solar energy could be produced using their technology through 2011. Fortis to Invest in 335-Megawatt Hydroelectric Project in British Columbia

Fortis has plans to construct a 355-MW hydroelectric facility together with two BC-owned corporations, providing is customers with green energy. The project, which comes with a price tag of about $900 million will produce approximately 630 gigawatt hours of energy which will be sold to BC Hydro under a long-term energy purchase agreement. See more.

Wind Turbine Projects Run Into Resistance

The US Department of Defense has some serious issues with wind turbines, stating that they “pose an unacceptable risk to training, testing and national security in certain regions”. Already the DOD has opposed proposals, including one near Barstow, California. See more.

Nova Scotia joins Canada’s green energy club

Nova Scotia has been quietly setting out ambitious targets for green energy, targets that surpass California’s. The Premier was even recently presented an award, at the Copenhagen meetings last December, for making North America’s first law on hard capping carbon emissions. Sea Breeze lands Toronto investor for Knob Hill wind farm

Vancouver-based Sea Breeze Power Corp. (TSX-V:SBX) has signed an agreement to build its Knob Hill Wind Farm on northern Vancouver Island.

Quebec struggles with excess electricity while promoting renewable energy
