The City of Surrey is excited to create the opportunity for an Energy Manager in its efforts to transition to more sustainable energy systems. Reporting to the Manager, Utilities in the Engineering Department, this newly created role will be responsible for leading and championing energy strategies and projects on behalf of the City of Surrey. This role will include leading the City’s District Energy initiatives, including the implementation of first district energy system focused on meeting the needs of civic facilities under construction in our City Centre.
As the successful candidate you will establish, lead and participate in committees, work groups, and project teams to promote collaboration and effectiveness in furthering the City’s clean energy vision and goals. Drawing on your strong knowledge of energy management and planning (including such issues as energy conservation, distributed generation, and district energy) in relation to city initiatives and government policy, regulations and legislation, you will be a great addition to the Engineering Department.
You have either a Masters or a Bachelors Degree in a related discipline of Engineering, resource management, planning or environmental science complemented with 5-10 years of related work experience. Municipal/Public Sector work experience, experience establishing business models, and proven facilitation skills are considered strong assets. Your proven capability in project management, community engagement, and collaborative initiative are critical to success in this position.
